Biography:

Within 4 years of playing the drums, Robert Lotreck went from not making the cut for high school regional jazz band to playing with some of the best young musicians in New York City. All while attending Columbia University full time, he has been hired for shows and tours with noteworthy artists spanning several genres such as Maude Latour, Sarah Kinsley, Russell Hall, Benny Bennack III, Alphonso Horne, Caroline Sky, Jackie Marchal, Portrait Party, and Levi Pugh. His own quartet was featured in 20 performances throughout the 2020 and 2021 Giant Step Arts “Walk With The Wind” Series in Central Park.  Throughout the series, he opened for Chris Potter, Antonio Sanchez, Marquis Hill, Immanuel Wilkins, Jonathan Blake, Nasheet Waits, and others.  His quartet featured some of the brightest young musicians in the city, consisting of a rotating cast that included Giveton Gelin, Russell Hall, Sarah Hanahan, Phil Norris, Anthony Hervey, Drew Anderson, and more.  Closely mentored by Corey Fonville, Robert constantly receives feedback and encouragement on not only his musical ability but also his career approach.  In addition to playing the drums, Robert song-writes for and co-leads his band Twice Shy.
